I went through John's HowTo on Tomcat and Apache on RH 9 this evening.

All worked awesome (on OS X) until I rebooted my machine, now I'm
getting the following in Tomcat's log file:
BAD packet 256
In: : [B@(protected)
01 00 03 47 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 | ...G............
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 | ................
I can access Tomcat and my apps using http://localhost:8080.
