IMHO:
 
pretty cool stuff, e.g., to add logging/tracing or statistics to (fresh or even existing) code
 
why I do not really use it in production: syntax is not supported in my favourite Java IDE (JBuilder) and I had some crashes with an API I'm building which occured only when utilizing AspectJ, not without AspectJ
