Decission to select the right configuration

Below is the scenario.
1.User performs for the operation on the screen
2.Data inserted into the transactional database
3.Along with db insert it also inserts certain data into a JMS queue
4.At the queue receiving end, another process (MDB) reads the
information and trigger certain operation which also involves
interaction with an outside Windows based application (on the same
network) and lot of database interaction.. This process can continue
for around 10 -15 mns ( for each request).

We are planning to use Websphere as application server and oracle 10g
as database. Our architect suggested run the step 4 on the 10g server
(by deploying java components and MDB listening to queue ). According
to him , this should speedup the process and better solution rather
than having it at websphere sever.

Can u suggest whether this is the right approach? What are the things
we should consider in these type of situation?
