iText doesn't support files bigger than 2G. This limit is there for no
particular reason and as long as each pdf object is below 2G it's not that
difficult to add support for big files.
About the speed it depends on what you are doing and the type of pdf
documents you are processing, number of pages, etc. Nevertheless it will
always be slower than a C based application.
