Hi,
Thanks for that, I tried the Australian Java Users Group - got even worse
response from that.
Today I remembered why I never got into Java earlier... I remember back a
few years when I wanted to get into it I got snob answers as well, and I
said what the .... I don't need this, just stick with my friendly CF
community.
I wasn't aware that questions had to be of some certain professor standard,
I am used to posting issues no matter what standard, and people help out if
they feel like it and don't if they do not, never got any response like "You
should not ask a questions like that"..
But thanks for helping me anyway, I will try and find another list to ask my
Java newbie questions on - in the hope that one of the lists will have a bit
more tolerance.
thanks

Hi Taco,
As Frans noted:

The J2EE ( should we now say JEE? Gee, I don't know... ) list has been
pretty quiet, so I expect people presently don't mind newbie standard Java
questions, but at some point there will likely be complaints that this is an
EE list.
You might want to post instead to the developerWorks, JavaRanch or Sun
Java forums that match up to the kinds of questions you ask. In addition,
you might check the Australian Java Users Group JUG list at:
http://www.ajug.org.au/
. There is also a list of JUGs at the Sun Java site and there is normally
no restriction on joining or posting to their lists. I scan and sometimes
respond to about 40 as I try to keep up with all things Java. Best,
