First of all I want to thanks for your attention Bruno;
I dont know exactly from which directory acrobat reader is using to get fonts but I assume
İt is using in a win2000 computer C:\winnt\fonts directory to load requeired fonts.
When I am generating pdf I am giving as a BaseFont target font from C:\winnt\fonts\COUR.TTF
I think this is a very bad problem because instead of COUR.TTF which is defined in Base14 font
for pdf files If I use verdana I can display cyrilic characters correctly in version 5.0 and 7.0
with out embedding fonts.

I think this is not prize of COUR.TTF font usage, this is a bug of COUR otherwise we can not say
this is a standart and portable.

As you aren't embedding your font, Adobe Reader is looking for it on your system.
It is using a font that is similar to the one you defined as far as this is possible; there is no guarantee that all the characters you have in your file are available in the font that is used by Adobe Reader.

That is the prize you pay for making sure all the characters are shown correctly.

Bruno
