It would be in the scope of iText but it's very difficult. It's
difficult to extract text, it's difficult to locate the word breaks,
it's difficult to get the structure (columns, tables, etc.). There are a
few free and commercial options with various degrees of success, have a
look at jpedal and pdfbox, both in Java.
