For stopping process on remote *NIX (Unix or Linux)
boxes I found using the AntServer task from the
ant-contrib project helpful. I start the ANTServer on
the remote box and have it contains the targets for
starting/stoping our Tomcat servers, i.e:

</target>
I then have my Windows client script use the
<remoteAnt> task to call the remote ANTServer's
targets... and voila the code is run on the remote box
and it stop the Tomcat.
