[iText-questions] PDF Compression

Thomas Merli

2006-08-28

Hello,

I'm using iText PDFStamper to add some annotations, predefined informations
metadatas and custom metadatas (inside header).

Some of input PDF's are compressed and some others not. How can I know if the
input file is compressed or not ? For instance just copying PDFReference16.pdf
downloaded from acrobat Website is producing an approximatively double pdf
sized document.

So the copied PDF is not compressed as the input one is. If I manually set
full compression on, the resulting pdf have an acceptable size.

So I would know how can i determine if I need to set full compression on or
not depending of the input file ? PdfReader does not seem to give me the
possibility to know if input file is compressed or not ?

What is the way to know the compression state of the input file ?

Thanks a lot for your help.
