I don't get any HTTP error message or something, all logfiles look ok, Tomcat can serve further requests, but the CPU load stays at 50 percent (and will not go down at any time). The problem occurs not only if I open my test servlet, if also happens if I enter any URL that is forwarded to Tomcat (resulting in a 404 error). Memory usage is staying at a constant level, not going up...

If you have using installer and have the Native connector, replace the
current one with the fixed version from:

http://tomcat.heanet.ie/native/1.1.6/binaries/win32/tcnative-1.dll

(It is inside the bin if installed)

Mladen.
