sql connection error 2006-11-15 - By master@(protected)

Hi, i use tomcat 5.5.20, when i start tomcat all is fine all works but
after some time i am getting this message :
java.sql.SQLException  : No operations allowed after connection closed
and the only way right now i have find is to restart tomcat, what could be
the cause of this message? i don't understand what could close the
connection and can't reopen it.
