Back Apparently, I'm far from alone with this sort of problem.
I'm running an application in windows xp professional. whenever I try to open a file select dialog, the app crashes with the following errors:
An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM. Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION occurred at PC=0x6D1C1E4C Function=Java_sun_awt_font_GlyphList_discardData+0x651C Library=C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.1_02\bin\fontmanager.dll

I've tried all the walkarounds I found on the site. I moved the fonts indicated in the font.properties file to my jre/lib/fonts/ directory (didn't work) and setting an environment variable JAVA_FONTS to point to c:\windows\fonts\ (likewise didn't work) and a few others I can't recall. Is there something I'm doing fundamentally wrong? It works fine on every other machine I tried it on (xp home, 2000, and winnt). I'm pretty much at the end of my rope here. Anyone have any ideas?
And if anyone has a clue to beat me over the head with, please respond directly to ssjrubio@(protected) as the listserv seems to be taking exception to my address
Thanks in advance.
