HELP! PLEASE! 2004-11-06 - By Tim Burden
Open your telnet app, connect to the server name or IP address in question on port 80 (this differs depending on your version of telnet, so you'll have to figure it out), and type the following (I'll borrow the syntax from another fellow recently):
HEAD /myfile.swf HTTP/1.1<ENTER> Host:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx<ENTER> <ENTER>
Then capture that output and paste it here. The idea is to sort of mimic what your browser is actually sending and get a look at the response headers. If we're lucky it'll actually send a mime type, a content length and other goodies.
