Bruno et al.:
I've adapted your TwoOnOne utility to make it more useful; I've been able to print a number of ebooks quite efficiently. My goal was to make the page images as large as possible while still fitting two on each physical page. For instance, given pages designed for a standard 6" by 9" book, it's possible to print two-up on standard US
8.5" by 11" paper with no reduction.
I do assume that all recto and verso pages have the same BoundingBox -- but that should always be the case.
I pass command-line parameters for start page, end page, magnification, verso hoffset, recto hoffset, and voffset -- and then use Ghostview to fine-tune them.
Would you like the code and further explanation?
