Just checked #2 on JBoss AS, the log prints:

21:38:55,841 INFO [SeamFilter] pattern=null

I think WAS is confusing the Faces Servlet Mapping and the Resource Servlet Mapping with the SeamFilter Mapping.

Perhaps we can try to move the servlet mapping ahead of the filer mapping definitions in web.xml?
