I believe I have solved the problem. It appears that instead of pushing jboss-seam.jar, I was supposed to push jboss-seam-debug.jar, jboss-seam-ioc.jar, jboss-seam-remoting.jar, and jboss-seam-ui.jar in my WEB-INF/lib directory. I am not sure why, but this appears to have fixed that problem (I have others).
