There is NO single tech note from adobe about proxy and authentication.
I verified it on multiple WindowsXP machines with a network sniffer - the proxy settings + authentication are not taken from the Windows (Internet Explorer) configuration. I tried it with Reader 6,7 and 8. Although Adobe Reader will query the proxy - it will not use authentication !
