Back <converter> and DateTimeConverter are features of JSF, so perhaps this isn't the best place to ask about them.
But if I wanted to do this without JSF, I can think of a couple of ways:
1. Add a property to your bean, ${diagnose.diagnoseDatumAsString}, to return the date as a String (using DateFormat).
2. Define a custom JSP tag to format dates, e.g. <mytags:date date="${diagnose.diagnoseDatum}"/> -- Len
