Creating new document from a pdf template that contains form f

Creating new document from a pdf template that contains form f

2007-11-08       - By Miguel Burnett

Hi all,

I have seen a very comprehensive example of a very similar question/thread
posted earlier (Jan 2007) entitled "Solution 1: creating new document where

every page includes contents (text and form fields) from pdf template
file
".  The example was excellent but my situation has a slight
twist.

Scenario:
I have a 4 page template.  On "any" part of "any"
one of those pages
are form fields along side placeholder fields that will be replaced with
dynamic content at runtime.  e.g line 15 of page 2 may have a placeholder

field; then starting at line 24 a static from field is positioned.

My concern is that the dynamic content may require more space than
is  originally allotted thus possibly overlaying any data that is directly
positioned after it.

Question:
After prefilling the form fields (stamper) by writing to a
ByteArrayOutputStream AND I locate the placeholder field(s) and update the
content at the given location(s) AND I substitute the placeholders with runtime
data, how can I ensure that the content
after the data is not wiped out/overlayed/overwritten?  The runtime data may
require more space than the placeholder occupies.

Thanx much.
