The idea of looking at the past and future character is a good one for
solving this particular instance, but it is not clear to me how it can
be applied to the general instance.
In the specific instance brought up, the text is wrapping on (hello) in
this manner:
(hello
)
This can be corrected by not allowing ) to be included in the split
characters if it is at the end of the line. However, what about in the
case where it is followed by a period (hello).
This would then break in that case
(hello
).
So we could then get around this by saying - okay it is not a split
character followed by a period. But then we come back to the case
(aaaa)bbb
If the table cell is a specific width, then (aaaa will fit, and then it
will wrap like this:
(aaaa
)bbb
When one really wants it to be:
(aaaa)
bbb
A possible workaround to this might be- no longer consider the ) to be a
split character, but instead say- the character FOLLOWING ) is a split
character. But then we will run into this type of splitting
(aaa)b
bbbb
Is there an aspect of this I am misconstruing?
