Back You can chose between both Entity bean or stateless Session bean.
If you chose Entity Bean, you will have a real persistence layer. But you have to access a backend that support all the necessary fonctionnality needed by Entity bean (Primary key, locking).
If you don't want a persistence layer or if your backend doesn't support wat you need to implement BMP, you can use stateless session bean.
