Moderate this list? 2004-03-10 - By Charles Bradley
Back Aaron,
1. I'm having trouble understanding how a Java-C++ communication transport layer has anything to do with J2EE patterns. Perhaps you should have asked, "Is there a pattern for ..." We could have all said "No", and most likely some people would suggest patterns, as well as suggesting technological idioms (which they very nicely did -- though they probably should have done it off-list).
2. When Mark made a legitamate complaint that you were off topic, you responded in what *some* might consider a whiney response, instead of respecting the list by apologizing or explaining how you thought your question was relevant to the list.
3. I personally gave you a list of other email lists on which you might try your post. For instance, 3 lists that were better suited to your query are:
CONNECTOR-INTEREST http://archives.java.sun.com/archives/connector-interest.html J2EE-INTEREST http://archives.java.sun.com/archives/j2ee-interest.html JMS-INTEREST http://archives.java.sun.com/archives/jms-interest.html
4. All I'm trying to say is this: Respect the list, and the time of users on the list. If you're going to post, you should make a reasonable effort to make it "on topic". I don't like the "whining" comment either, but don't let that distract you from the more professional aspects of your query.
5. I'm curious... In your original email, you state: > ...We have checked two approaches: > 1. JMS - no C++ support... How did you come to be able to use JMS to solve your problem if there is no C++ support? (Feel free to respond offline to this one)
Good luck. You've got a challenge ahead of you.
